Sarah Kubitschek was a Brazilian socialite, philanthropist, and advocate for women's rights. She was born on August 15, 1921, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She was the wife of Brazilian President Juscelino Kubitschek and served as the First Lady of Brazil from 1956 to 1961.
After her husband's presidency ended, Sarah became an advocate for women's rights, especially in rural areas of Brazil. She founded several social programs and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women and their families, including the Sarah Kubitschek Hospital, which continues to provide healthcare services to low-income women and their children.
In 1979, Sarah was awarded the United Nations Population Award for her efforts to improve the lives of women and promote reproductive health in Brazil. She passed away on May 19, 1996, in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 74.
